The Amputee Program at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospitals of New Jersey provides an intensive interdisciplinary team approach to the rehabilitation of patients who have sustained an amputation or have undergone vascular surgery. Our program is dedicated to providing the clinical, technical and professional resources necessary to promote progress toward an independent and productive lifestyle.

Goals of the Amputee Program:
- Reduce Swelling and shape the limb for prosthetic fit
- Teach independence in ambulation both with and without a prosthesis
- Increase independence in daily living activities
- Facilitate community re-entry
- Improve specific and general muscle strength
- Improve range of motion necessary for safe mobility and prevention of contractures
- Educate patients and family on skin care and prosthetic maintenance
- Develop coping skills for patient and family adjustment to the physical limitations and change.
