Rehabilitation Is Critical to Recovery
Rehabilitation is a critical component of care in the recovery for stroke survivors. The effects of stroke may mean that patients must change, re-learn or redefine how they live. After a stroke, physical, speech and occupational therapies help patient manage the basics of daily living, such as walking, dressing and eating.
At HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospitals of New Jersey, the Stroke Recovery Program features a clinical team led by a physiatrist (a physician who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation) who works with each patient to overcome disabilities, learn new ways to accomplish tasks and strengthen parts of the body impaired by the stroke. Early intervention at an acute rehabilitation hospital is the key to a successful recovery. Due to our program-specific treatment plan, we are able to meet the varied needs of stroke survivors of all ages, both inpatient and outpatient. The Stroke Recovery Team is committed to working with each patient as soon as possible upon discharge from Monmouth Medical Center offering a full continuum of care.
