Sophisticated Treadmills Help Regain Walking Skills
Our inpatient and outpatient rehab offer the AutoAmbulator
, a sophisticated treadmill device unparalleled in its ability to help patients replicate normal walking patterns. We use the AutoAmbulator for gait training in patients with conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, Guillian Barre, and orthopedic and spinal cord injuries. We are the only two rehabilitation centers of New Jersey offering this state-of–the-art therapy device.
Therapy Equipment for Swallowing Disorders
VitalStim is the first and only FDA-approved Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) therapy for treating dysphasia. Dysphagia is a potentially life-threatening condition that limits a patient’s ability to swallow. It is common among stroke survivors, those with progressive neurological disorders, and the elderly.

In a clinical trial of nearly 900 patients using VitalStim therapy, more that 98 percent improved their swallow function score. Greater than 97 percent of the patients with severe dysphagia regained swallow function past the point of feeding tube dependency, and nearly 40 percent regained full normal swallow function. Depending upon the severity level, VitalStim has been proven to be two to three times as effective as traditional thermal-tactile stimulation.
Motor Planning and Coordination Skills
The Interactive Metronome Program is a brain-based rehabilitation assessment and training program developed to directly improve the processing abilities that affect attention, motor planning, and sequencing. This improvement in turn strengthens motor skills, including mobility and gross motor function, and many fundamental cognitive capacities such as planning, organizing, and language.
